Jeri Topel, LCSW, MSW

Jeri Topel received her Bachelors in psychology from Washington University in St. Louis and a Master of Social Work from University of Illinois at Chicago with a specialty in school social work.  She has been working in public schools as a social worker with a variety of ages, programs and needs over the past two decades. Being passionate about working with kids using a strengths based approach in order to help empower them is integral to Jeri’s work with children.  She believes in the importance of setting up kids to be successful and recognizing the process and time that it takes to work on goals.  Furthermore, children should be collaborative in the process of developing goals so that they are invested in the process.  Jeri is a great listener, deliberate in intervening and problem solving.  She recognizes the importance of a relationship and rapport that are necessary for the therapeutic relationship.  Her goal is to create a trusting relationship where kids feel empowered through play and a relaxed setting to address their concerns and issues.

Jeri is an advocate for children and helping their needs to get addressed appropriately.  She believes in collaboration and recognizes the impact it can have when people are communicating together for the best interest of the child.  She has extensive knowledge on systems in the public school settings including IEP meetings and 504’s.

Jeri lives in Buffalo Grove with her husband and three high school aged kids.  She loves traveling, spending time with her family and dog.
